Preparing for my funeral

2018​

[To plan my own funeral, I invited nine acquaintances to prepare for my funeral. Two of them noticed the intention of the work, then they refused.]

After experiencing that death comes at an unexpected moment, and death is inevitable, I go on a project to prepare my own funeral. It is a video letter from my seven friends who have visited my workplace while I was working as an artist-in-residence at the Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art in 2018. All visitors first sit in front of the pre-installed camera and lights, share a poem or story that they want to share with me, and record a video letter to the artist or themselves.

죽음이 예상치 않는 순간에 온다는 것, 그리고 죽음은 피할 수 없다는 것을 경험한 이후 스스로의 장례식을 준비하는 프로젝트를 진행한다.

'시인의 편지'는 2018년 영은미술관 입주작가로 작업을 하는 공간에 방문 하였던 지인 7명의 영상편지이다. 모든 방문자는 설치된 조명과 카메라 앞에 앉아 작가와 마주앉아 대화를 나눈다. 함께 했던 추억, 처음 만났을 때의 회상, 서로의 근황, 그리고 그 밖에 중요하거나 중요하지 않은 것들에 관한 대화를 나눈다. 방문자는 지금 이순간 남기고 싶은 편지나 나누고 싶은 시 혹은 이야기를 영상 속에서 남긴다. ​
